Blessing Our Enemies
Another means of power and healing comes from blessing our enemies. Indeed it seems challenging at first, maybe even impossible, but as you begin doing so, you will find the way to hope and healing.
In Luke 6:27 of the Bible, Jesus said the following:
“But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
There are reasons He spoke these words. There is Godly truth in doing as He spoke. Here are a few thoughts:
a. We serve a God of abundance not a God of scarcity
b. We probably will not feel like blessing them. This is an act of our will.
c. Ask God to bless you the same way; it is a reality as He loves even those who hate(d) Him.
Jesus also said,
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:37-38).
e. Negative thoughts/words attract things that don’t involve God or His goodness
d. Know the power of positive words. Gratitude, Blessing, Praise all attract God’s goodness.
Believe me, developing love for your enemies is challenging. Yet doing so brings amazing works of God into our lives, works toward healing and peace. These works are steeped in the understanding that we receive blessing and forgiveness, freedom of release from our own sinful ways. God’s work in us will free Him to release His blessing upon us as we forgive those who seemingly hate us. How do we find the way to hope and healing? Asking God to help us love, do good deeds, pray for and ask His blessing upon those who mistreat us.
